Quinta de Camarate Dry White Wine

QUINTA DE CAMARATE 2017

DRY WHITE WINE
V.R. PENÍNSULA DE SETÚBAL

Quinta de Camarate is a single vineyard wine produced from one of the family estates, located in the Setubal Peninsula.

Located in Azeitão, close to Setúbal, Quinta de Camarate was acquired by António Soares Franco Jr. in 1914 and is now the property of the brothers António and Domingos Soares Franco, the prime owners of José Maria da Fonseca. Quinta de Camarate has an area of 120 hectares, 39 of which are covered with vines. The remainder of the land is grazed by sheep which produce the famous Azeitão cheese.

The vines of Quinta de Camarate are planted in lime and clay soils sheltered by the Arrábida hills.

Camarate dry white is an estate wine long produced from Moscatel de Setúbal, Alvarinho and Verdelho grape varieties. Gradually, the percentage of the Moscatel de Setúbal grape began to be reduced in order to give the other two grape varieties more aromatic space, resulting in a higher complexity. With the 2009 vintage the Moscatel de Setúbal left the blend for good. It is a distinct and delicate white wine which should be enjoyed while young to make the most of its fruity aroma and soft palate.
